Meet Megan
My professional career, which has spanned the Hudson Valley, the Hamptons, New York City, and New Jersey, began 27 years ago when I moved to NYC to attend The French Culinary Institute. After I graduated, I was fortunate enough to work with acclaimed Pastry Chef Martin Howard for five years at Brasserie 8 1/2. Fun, whimsical desserts based on solid technique made me as passionate about desserts as I already was about cooking. After my stint with Martin, I left to explore all the exciting restaurants opening around me, starting with Lever House, and moving to Daniel and Sapa, all high-volume fine dining restaurants. It wasn't until I became a pastry chef with Zak Pelaccio at 5 Ninth in the NYC meatpacking district that I realized how much I enjoyed smaller venues with more creativity, more spontaneity. I loved going to the farmer' s market and meeting all the people who grew such beautiful food. 5 Ninth was a very special place with a really interesting menu set-up; every day, the menu changed. For the first time, I was meeting the people I cooked for. I loved that connection. It's no wonder that I've made the switch to a private chef: to further that personal connection, I want to share my experience and all I've learned about creative, healthy, personally-tailored menus and food with more than one family at a time. After my hiatus to have and raise my two daughters, I saw that Maplewood and Essex County had a place for me. Moms, after COVID, need a meal service tailored to each family's needs.
